coming back home, saw a car accident near the exit of the freeway...

arrived home, picked up the camera, and went to see if I could capture something from a nearby pass... this is a normal day in the freeways of Los Angeles.

Guadalajara, Jalisco... we started at the San Pedro Tlaquepaque villa, then drove back to downtown to visit the Palacio de Gobierno (Government Palace), Metropolitan Cathedral, Rotonda de los Hombres Ilustres... a bit of everything around Guadalajara... We left Bauana early in the morning to try to make as many kilometers as possible under the fresh morning air... we knew it was going to be a long day, about 8 hours to reach Carauari.
The first image is when we are leaving the igarapé Bauana, and entering into the Juruá River. We were leaving behind two days of work at the Uacarí RDS (Reserva de Desenvolvimento Sustentável de Uacari).
We were on two small (and crowded) aluminum boats... with overboard engines, and carrying plenty of gasoline with us, to make the whole trip with only one stop for changing the fuel tanks (nowhere to buy gasoline) and carrying all our gear.
After some hours, the heat, the constant beating the water by the boat, was taking some of us into the siesta mode... but I could not, the images were constantly changing, people in their little wooden boats, trees tall short fallen growing, sand dunes, floating trunks (had to wake up our pilot as we were going to crash into one), the magnificent simplicity and complexity of the forest was like an adrenaline shot for me... I shoot nearly 900 pics... more than 100 per hour... at the end of the day, at Carauari, we were leaving the hotel going for dinner, when we saw an amazing sky... full essay

We left Carauari just before noon... in two aluminum boats, loaded up to... Our boat was not performing as expected (until a trunk hit the outboard engine and it re-engage properly) these images bring to my memory a part of the trip that was very important... maybe 'cause the smaller boat, gave us a better dimension of the forest, or a better dimension of our relation to the forest. full essay

we spent one full day at Bauana, a community south west from Manaus, Amazon state. It takes two days to get there.
the community had recently re-located to this place, so you see lots of
bare soil and kind of new houses. we slept at a nearby complex, and came by boat to the main site early in the morning. one of the events we captured was the moving of little turtles to a safer place for them to grow. full essay
